ECAT (Engineering Colleges Admission Test)

ECAT

ECAT(Engineering Colleges Admission Test) is an MCQ’s based exam that is a compulsory option to be taken by candidates who want to take admission in Engineering Universities. Our course pack is devised to harness critical and analytical skills to ace the exam. Every year UET (University of Engineering & Technology) organizes the ECAT exam for all public sector institutes of Punjab.

    • FSC (Pre-Engineering) with a combination of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education of Pakistan or an equivalent examination recognized by the university.
    • Intermediate with a combination for Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science shall only be acceptable for Computer Science, Computer Science & Engineering, City & Regional Planning, Architecture and Product& Industrial Design.
    • Intermediate with a combination of Physics, Mathematics and Statistics shall only be acceptable for Computer Sciences, City & Regional Planning, Architecture and Product & Industrial Design.
    • He should have earned (or expect to earn) at least 60% marks in Intermediate/ DAE or equivalent foreign qualification examination excluding sports and Hafiz-e-Quran marks.
    • He should have appeared in the Entry Test arranged by this University for that academic session in which he seeks admission.
    • His subject combination in the Entry Test must be same as his intermediate (or equivalent) subject combination because he will be considered for admission in the prescribed disciplines relevant to his subject combination only. This restriction does not apply to DAE qualified candidates.
    • In case the candidate seeks admission based on B.Sc. Engineering Technology or equivalent degree, he should have obtained (or expect to obtain) at least 60% marks, in case of annual system, or a CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.0, in case of semester system.
    • He should have earned (or expect to earn) a minimum of “C” grade in the subjects of Physics, Mathematics/ Biology and Chemistry/ CS in “A” level examination.
    • He should have earned (or expect to earn) at least 50% overall adjusted aggregate marks calculated according to the formula given in Merit Calculation section.
    • He should be a bonafide resident of the area from where he seeks admission

Selection Criteria

The final merit list will be calculated as under:

  • Entry Test Marks: 30 %
  • Adjusted marks in F.Sc / Equivalent examination : 70 %

To determining the merit of an applicant having F.Sc (Pre-Medical) with Maths as an additional subject, following points shall be assessed:

  • It is considered that the candidate has passed the examination by parts.
  • The marks obtained in the subject of Biology are replaced by those obtained in Mathematics.

20 marks are added to the final academic score in HSSC (or equivalent examination) of an applicant who is Hafiz-e-Quran after the verification from a committee.

  • Cambridge Certification from overseas equivalent to Higher certificate in (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) shall be deemed acceptable.
  • (Advanced Level) British General Certificate of Education in (Physics, Chemistry and Maths).
  • F.Sc (Pre-Medical) with Mathematics as an additional subject.
  • American High School Graduation Diploma (12th grade) or Equivalent.
  • There is No Age Restriction seeking admission in any Bachelor’s degree course.
